Pro tip: Click here to look at your orders and view the restocking rate of your items. There's no way to avoid paying this fee if you return an item.

Unfortunately, there's no way to avoid the 20% restocking fee. It's mandatory that you pay it when returning an item to a third-party seller.

This fee is in place to protect sellers from shoppers who may take advantage of their products and policies. Amazon did not always have the restocking fee in place.

This rule was recently introduced as a way to keep sellers happy, as they make up more than half of the products on Amazon.com. It's also in place to decrease your customer Return Dissatisfaction Rate. It's used to encourage you to keep your items once purchased.

This fee is in place regardless of if you send back a product in its original condition or not.
